Ingredients
1 cup All-purpose flour
1 cup fine yellow cornmeal
2/3 cup white sugar
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder (not needed if using self-raising flour)
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 large egg
Method
1. Gather Ingredients
2. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F ( 200 degrees C). Lightly grease and 9 inch round cake pan.
3. Whisk flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl.
4. Add milk, vegetable oil, and egg; whisk until well combined.
5. Pour batter into prepared pan.
6. Bake in preheated oven until a toothpick inserted onto the center of the pan comes out clean, 20 - 25 minutes.
